Texas Epic - About Us

About Us

Who We Are
Epic is a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ which was designed to reach a people group that is often overlooked - the Asian American people. Asians are the fastest growing ethnic group in America whose numbers have grown by fifty percent since 1990. As a result of this growing arena, Epic was strategically mobilized as a campus ministry in order to transform college students into Christ-centered laborers who will give back to the community and the world.

Epic is about:
- Life change in the context of community
- Serving our communities and the world
- Presenting the life of Jesus Christ to others
Our Committees
Epic hopes to reach the campus by categorizing ministry into five different categories: Large Group, Prayer, Worship, Community, and Outreach.

Large Group - This committee is all about planning and executing the weekly large group meetings. EPIC weekly meeting desires to be a (1) high quality meeting purposed to (2) corporately worship Christ, (3) equip through Christ-centered teaching, (4) enjoy authentic fellowship, (5) and be challenged to live missionally wherever God may call.

Prayer - In Epic, we believe that prayer is the most vital aspect of our ministry and lives. Without prayer, we simply wouldn't survive. Besides praying, this committee is in charge of the weekly prayer meetings and any other prayer related activities that run throughout the school year. The vision of the prayer committee is to help others grow in their commitment to involve and rely on communication with God as we -- as individuals and as a body of Christ -- seek His heart.

Worship - Worship is more than just music and songs, but this committee covers the worship music portion of large group meetings and prayer meetings. To see a list of some of the songs that we are familiar with, you can go here.

Community - The vision of the community committee is to build the family of Epic as a fellowship of believers and to channel the Epic community outwards so that small pockets of Epic communities are available all over the UT community. The desire for community team is to embody the vision of Epic through its events and activities.

Outreach - This committee is based on using the "Win, Build, Send" model to grow our fellowship. By sharing the Gospel on campus, Christ is made known and relationships are built. Secondly it challenges our members to grow in their own faith, to trust in God to give them the wisdom and love to reach out to the students on campus. Lastly this group challenges our members to go out on their own and establish missional communities independent of Epic as a whole. The Outreach committee holds weekly outreach events on campus.

While small groups aren't a committee, it's still a large part of our fellowship and contributes to our desire to reach the campus.

Small groups - The vision of Epic small groups is to have a group of people who are journeying together to pursue a common goal throughout the year. (Growing deeper in your relationship with God, Seekers group, Manhood and Womanhood..etc) With small groups, we also hope to further build community by facilitating an atmosphere of openness and trust. We hope that small groups can be a starting place for people to open up and share struggles and seek restoration as they journey together towards wherever the small group is heading that year!
Small Group and Discipleship

We see discipleship and small groups as the driving force behind personal growth. While small groups aren't a committee, it's still a large part of our fellowship and contributes to our desire to reach the campus.
